Closed-cell crosslink foam is a polyethylene product that is used in a lot of gymnastics matting. You'll see it in carpet bonded foam, panel mats, competition landing mats, trampoline pads, etc. One of its primary uses is as a layer of padding between your spring floor deck and your floor exercise carpet. The "closed" cell structure of the crosslink foam prevents moisture from being retained and offers a springy quality to the foam.

The Carolina Gym Supply Closed-Cell Crosslink Foam comes in three thickness/variations. All rolls are standard width and length of 6' x 42'.

• 1.25" Regular - most common for a spring floor in a training setting; fine for competition
• 2" Regular - mostly used by the equipment rental businesses; no real difference can be felt on a spring floor between the 1.25" and 2" regular
• 2" EVA Modified - this is considered the "cream of the crop" when it comes to crosslink foam; you will definitely feel a difference with this foam; the specially formulated structure and additive provides an obvious rebounding quality when tumbled on; used for Elite and FIG competitions

How many rolls of Carolina Gym Supply Closed-Cell Crosslink Foam do I need for my floor?

A typical gymnastics spring floor is 42' x 42', so you need seven (7) rolls of crosslink foam to cover it. For a 42' x 54' cheer floor, you need nine (9) rolls. If you need custom size rolls for a bigger area, please call our sales team to discuss a solution!
